If you’ve been playing D&D for decades like me, or you’re just getting started and looking for some ideas for homebrew rules to improve your game, this supplement contains four ideas that are rules-light and easy to implement tonight. These ideas are based on older edition rules from 1978-2005 and include: • Fast Disengage: A way to make movement more dynamic by rewarding, rather than penalizing players who want their characters to move around the battlefield more. • Sleeping Dragons: If you imagine dragons being like giant cats, it’s reasonable to think they sleep a lot. How often? I have a quick and easy rule for that. • Training to Level up: I present a simplified version of the official optional rules on this from 5th edition, and a short humorous history of how this used to work in old school D&D • Mass Combat: If the idea of having huge, cinematic battles in your games appeals to you, but every system you’ve read seems complicated and overwhelming, I present a simple six-step system in a little over 500 words.
