Nova Glen is the kind of place where you go to leave your past behind and start a new life. It's a village built on the ruins of an old dwarven settlement destroyed by war, and around an ancient stone cathedral still run by monks who are the descendents of its only survivers.

Today dwarves, humans, elves, halflings and others are helping expand this tiny viillage from a stop-over on the river into a destination. Here lies a chance for heroes to uncover ancient ruins, buried treasure, and opportunities to get in on the ground floor of what coould become a new center of civilization.

This full color PDF includes

-Two detailed maps of Nova glen--the downtown hill, and the new Station Point area by the river, and high-resolution versions of the maps are included in additional files! -17 detailed locations for your players to explore -Over 20 NPCs, many of whom hide dark secrets, deep flaws, and hopes for the future -Links to 5e stat blocks for each NPC from the D&D basic rules -Dozens of adventure ideas

Nova Glen is part of the nation of Corvindor, detalied in my earlier PDF Corvindor: The River Republic, and the setting for my adventure Boldly Going, one of the four adventures in Strange Tales from Small Towns, a mini-campaign for levels 1-4.

In the early days of role-playing games, many classic, iconic monsters were created that have become defining creatures in every edition of the game since then.

These are not those monsters.

This book features 10 weird, unusual, and in some cases, horrifying monsters from monster books you may have played with or flipped through back in the 80s, such as the Giant Portuguese Man of War, Boggle, Bowler, Executioner’s Hood, Retch Plant, Carbuncle, Sheet Phantom, and Mujina. These aren't just updated stat blocks. Each monster is paired with adventure ideas designed to turn an obscure creature into the centerpiece of an unforgettable session. For each monster you get

• A stat block compatible with 5.5 edition D&D (2024)

• A description of each monster

• Three adventure hooks to give you ideas to get you started with adventures featuring some of the weirdest, forgotten monsters originally published between 1977 and 1984.

Plus, you six hand-drawn colored-pencil monster illustrations by myself and my kid. They’re not professional drawings, but we had a blast creating them between gaming sessions. It also allowed me to make this product pay-what-you-want, since all I spent on this project was time. This fan work is published under the Wizards of the Coast SRD 5.2 Creative Commons license and is a tribute to some of the wonderfully strange monsters that captured my imagination as a teenager. I hope they inspire a new generation of Dungeon Masters to give them a place at their tables.

Four Old School Rules to Bring Back!

If you’ve been playing D&D for decades like me, or you’re just getting started and looking for some ideas for homebrew rules to improve your game, this supplement contains four ideas that are rules-light and easy to implement tonight. These ideas are based on older edition rules from 1978-2005 and include: • Fast Disengage: A way to make movement more dynamic by rewarding, rather than penalizing players who want their characters to move around the battlefield more. • Sleeping Dragons: If you imagine dragons being like giant cats, it’s reasonable to think they sleep a lot. How often? I have a quick and easy rule for that. • Training to Level up: I present a simplified version of the official optional rules on this from 5th edition, and a short humorous history of how this used to work in old school D&D • Mass Combat: If the idea of having huge, cinematic battles in your games appeals to you, but every system you’ve read seems complicated and overwhelming, I present a simple six-step system in a little over 500 words.

Need a farming town for your fantasy campaign? Hearthwell is ready to drop into your game tonight!

This prosperous river community of 500 people sits along one of Corvindor's busiest waterways. Farmers, fishermen, merchants, and ferry captains all make their living here, and not everyone sees eye to eye. Independent farmers struggle to compete against the wealthy Allred family, while travelers come and go on everything from fishing boats to magic-powered steamboats.

Inside you'll find:

• A full-color town map

• 12 detailed locations, including a riverside inn, ferry station, watchtower, fairgrounds, marketplace, and chapel

• Local NPCs, plot hooks, and small-town rivalries

• A busy river port with regular ferry service to Port Corvus and other communities throughout Corvindor

• The setting for my adventures Rats on the Farm and Bread Dog, also available on this site

Whether your heroes are stopping for a hot meal at the Riverside Inn, catching the ferry to Port Corvus, or getting caught in a feud between local farmers, Hearthwell provides a memorable home base for adventures big and small.

Life is never boring in this little town on the river.
